Book Thief - In response to Marcus Aurelius!
I agree with your statement. I like the diversity of Liesels bond with Hans, its reminds me of me and my Dad, although im not a foster child. You can tell she feels more at ease with Hans and its shows in the way Zusak is writing about Papa very often. The diversity of the connection between people made the story more intriguing and more grabbing for me. Liesels a "daddys girl" when it comes to her realationship with Hans, Hans has been more of a father to her than her REAL dad. I also love how accepting Rosa and Hans are; Rosa can be harsh but you can definately tell she loves Liesel. It makes me stop and think how many people can hide behind their "cardboard faces" and in truth be very sensitive concerning and loving people. The depth and complexity of the realationships in the book made it one of my favorites so far, it caused me to stop and think, and every once and awhile i like that.

Book Thief - In response to Archimedes!
Archimedes speaks of the Mayor's Wife Isla Hermann not ratting out Liesel. I believe the reason Isla doesnt tell on Leisel and turnher in is because she regrets the Nazi Movement. She misses her son, and he loved to read so her library and letting Liesel take and read the books is a way of remembrance for her son. The way I see it, Isla is vicariously watching Liesel grow and read as she would have with her son that was murdered. The book Liesel stole from the Fire - the burning of Jewish Items - let Isla know that she could share her collection of Books with Liesel without being told on either. Isla knows that Liesel is the only one she can reach out to, to enjoy and make use of her fantastic collection of Books.
I also agree with Archimedes on the fact that Hans Hubermann is one of my favorite characters; his loving nature intriques me because he acts so kind and loving towards a girl he barely knows (at first, obviously). He is the one who changes Liesel Meminger, he causes her to be eager towards reading, to not refuse her baths, and to break out of her shell. He stands by her side every night her nightmares occur.

The Book Thief (:
I AM ON PAGE 379 - SO BEWARE!
I believe that Liesel has grown immsensely throughout the book, with the help of Papa of course. She is not the smartest child in the beginning but she has such a desire to prove people wrong and to learn to read that she becomes a fairly intelligent child. When Max comes to live with the Hubermanns; i believe that desire to read grew a tiny bit more. When i read that section, i took notice of Liesels interest in Max, but i also felt that there was a sense of relief and pride that she was not a Jew. That pride struck home and made her want to become better, and as it later stated in the book, Max has somewhat become a brother in Liesels eyes [from my understanding]. Also with Liesels desire to read; i believe that Death becomes more and more interested, adding more and more detail and story as the book continues. Deaths fascination is not only more with Liesel, I felt that the in-depth(ness) of the book gets ten times larger when Max hoins the household. The secrecy of hiding the Jew, and beginning to love him is what strives Death to become ingrossed in their "story".

Modern Art

Artist: Georges Seurat
Name of Piece: La Seine a la Grande-Jatte
Things I see...
- a sail boat near the beaches' horizon.
- a man kayaking / canoeing.
- an "arabian like" building in the backround.
- a hammock hanging off the tree.
- a bird perched in the tree.
- many shades that make up the water.
2. The painting was put together using dots of different colors used as a whole to show the shapes and object of this painting.
Lines...
Georges arranged the dots in straight lines, like the shore, buildings, and kayaker. He also threw in a few curved lines which add to the color change with the dots, like the sails on the sailboat, the curvature in the tree, and the grassy shoreline.
Color...
The colors Georges uses are mixes. The color of "blue" is in many shades for the reflexive look on the water, also he uses dots of green to add the deepness of the waters color.
-The colors are harmonious.
- I believe the man focal point of this painting is the emphasize the tree, and the beauty that comes with trees.
Shape...
Georges used many circles (dots) in his painting.
Space...
Georges painting has dimmension, it makes you feel like you are looking out into a ocean or lake.
Lighting...
The light is coming from the sun, the lighting is shown through the reflection on the water.
Composition...
He used many dots to make it look like he just stroked his brush across the page, and unless you look closely you would never know it was made from a billion tiny dots.
The mood I feel...
I feel happiness when I look at this painting, it reminds me of summer and my own boat. I love being on the river, and having the water and trees to look at with the suns reflection, its my favorite part of boating.
The Contributors...
Things contributing to the mood are the shades of the colors and how he makes it a fun and light picture to look at. He doesnt bring dark colors into it because that reminds one of "gloom & doom" the lightness of the painting sets off an easy going mood. Making you happier.

Marc Antony !
Marc Antony was the person Caesar had at his side, he was basically his "right hand" man. Brutus believed that Marc Antony wouldnt be very powerful once Caesar was dead, but he was wrong. When Marc Antony spoke at Julius Caesar's funeral he took a crowd of "Brutus believers" and changed them to be against Brutus. He wanted to avenge Caesars death and he took the whole of the community with him. They realized Brutus was not the good guy, after Marc Antony repeatedly said "For Brutus is an Honorable Man".
Marc Antony is interesting to me because of his passion for his friend, he is so influenuatel, He makes sure that Caesar did not die in vain, and he comes up with the second triumvate. He sticks up for what he knows is right, even if it got him hurt. He knew he had the power to persuae and make sure that they knew the truth about Brutus and his men.
Marc Antony is alot like Barack Obama. Obama has the power to give loaded speeches which affects the public, and its so powerful. Alot of people are behind Obama, but alot of people are behind McCain stil too. This link shows the diversity in views and public optinions, the diversity in public beliefs and politics.

The Allegory.
1. Plato told of the shadows being cast from the men, the people within the cave did not know what to think of them. Shadows happen alot in our society today. They happen in tabloids, in magazines, newspapers etc. The rumors about Celebrities are either insane lies, or harsh truths.
2. http://www.myspace.com/ this is a shadow site because of all the weirdo creeps that pretend to be other people online. Unless you know the person personally, all the things you read could be a lie. People pretend to be many things, but who knows whether or not people are keeping it real ?
3. Shadows make people feel inferior. The media try to play up alot of the unrealistic "reality" shows, which people may think they do cool things. People try to live up too, and do the things that celebs, and commercials / tv shows show. It's a very negative, although sometimes positive, affect on our community and nation.
